Naval Architecture/Design

Naval Architecture & Design

The unpredictable nature of the sea necessitates that ships are designed using the latest standards and technology to operate in this sometimes harsh environment.

Overall design must take into account structural feasibility, operational simplicity and maintenance capability, whilst at the same time remaining commercially viable. If any one small element of design or structural engineering is not correct this could end in disaster.

The Naval Architecture and Design Department (NADD) at Times Marine has some of the best Architects and Mechanical, Piping and Electrical Engineers who work alongside a team of Field engineers and Draftsmen on projects ranging from pleasure and tug boats to oil rigs and super tankers. They are all supported by our in-house team of ex-Master Mariners and Chief Engineers which ensures that we provide ‘the whole design package’.

Solutions provided by Times Marine NADD:
• Design, tender evaluation & project management of new-build and conversions
• Structural design and analysis
• Intact and damage stability, including inclining experiments
• Engineering Review for Marine Warranty purposes
• Lashing design or review for project cargo
• Design or review of project cargo load-out procedures (including mooring & ballast plans)
• Operational manual (e.g. cargo securing manual)
• Electrical diagrams, including detailed cable routing
• Tender specification and technical manual writing
